Mixité sociale

Bronze with a chrome and silver nitrate coating

30 cm

This sculpture symbolizes human diversity and the clash of cultures. It shows a large lizard sniffing a miniature frog, two creatures diametrically different in size and nature, yet brought together in a common space. This work illustrates the sometimes complex contact between different creatures, embodied by the lizard and the frog.

The lizard, large and dominant, could represent a culturally or socially dominant group, while the frog, small but resilient, could symbolize minorities or less represented cultures. The attitude of the lizard sniffing the frog highlights the curiosity that is sometimes awkward but inherent in human nature when it comes to the unknown and differences.

This image reminds us of the importance of mutual understanding, acceptance and integration in our diverse and multicultural societies. In short, “Mixité sociale” is a celebration of difference and a call for peaceful and respectful coexistence among all cultures.
